About ABTEC, Inc.
ABTEC was founded in 1976 in a small one car garage as The Taylor Equipment Company and was renamed
and incorporated in 1989 as ABTEC, Inc. We have grown into two warehouses totaling 120,000
square feet on 10 acres full of material handling, warehouse, store and other types of equipment.
Now in it's second generation of ownership we have expanded upon our offerings by adding many new
items to compliment our used inventory. We are not the largest company in this industry but we do
our best to provide you with honest, no hassle buying at the best prices. Feel free to call us anytime
with any questions you may have and we will do our best to help you out. We are here Monday - Friday
8:00 to 5:00 eastern time and if you need directions just give us a call or check the website. One
day we will get around to adding an online map.
Here are answers to a few questions people have asked in the past.
- ABTEC stands for A Bruce Taylor Equipment Company and was used in order to put us on top of our yellow
page advertising. A comes before T, so it's fairly simple logic. Besides it sounds better
than A A A A A Able Equipment Company.
- We don't stock all of the new items we sell because it ultimately saves us all money. If we
ship it here and then out to the customer, you end up paying freight twice and we have to pay taxes
on the inventory.
- No, we do not sell computer components, can't help you with an eating disorder nor can we remove
asbestos from your building. Those are all different companies with the same name.
- What is scratch and dent? Scratch and dent means usually just that.
Commonly most of our scratch and dent items are damaged during shipment and we can buy them at lower
prices from the carrier. Scratch and dent also includes stuff we get that are returns to catalog
companies but might not have anything wrong with them. Our entry mats and Rubbermaid® carts
are an example of this.
- And for local customers, despite what you may have heard, the flood damage we suffered in 1991
was neither covered by insurance or the city of Akron. It all came out of our pocket and
they still use the canal as a sewage overflow when it rains. Call us bitter, but
we still get nervous when it rains.
